History

PUI is an authorized distributor of electronics components, a people based, technology provider, focused on customer support and services.

PUI started in a condo in Huntington Beach, CA, in 1980. Our original business plan was to be an authorized capacitor distributor in California. The original partners in PUI: Bob Gau, David Herring, Kurt Oliver, and Andy Salas are still partners today – over 30 years later!

In 1980, PUI started as a one room operation: four desks, four phones, and a small amount of inventory was kept in a closet. We have come a long way since then. In the last 30 years our Corporate Headquarters has moved from Santa Ana, to Tustin (1986) to Irvine (2010) where we are currently located. We have also opened up two other branches since then. Our Northern California branch opened in 1982 and our New England branch opened in 1995.

In 1998 PUI acquired BDS Electronics, a California distributor of electromechanical, hardware, and interconnect components. Our goal is to continue to acquire other distributors that will bring PUI into new regions or markets.

Now, 34 years later, we have upwards of 4 million dollars in inventory to support our sales goals and are selling to customers around the globe. PUI customers are the leaders in telecommunication, medical, computer products, and instrumentation development and manufacturing.

We have a great team of more than 40 employees between our three branches and we are proud to announce that more than 60% of PUI employees have been with PUI for ten years or longer. Having these long term employees allows us to react quickly and professionally to our customers and suppliers alike.
